Govt warns of action against plastic flower, garland sellers



KATHMANDU: The government has said that action will be taken against those involved in selling plastic flowers, bouquets and garlands during Tihar and Chhath festivals.

The Ministry of Forests and Environment, issuing a notice, warned of taking action against those selling plastic flowers and garlands in Tihar and Chhath.

The government has banned the production, import, sale, distribution and storage of flowers and garlands made of plastic.

The Ministry has said those found selling and distributing such products will face a fine of up to Rs 100,000.

According to the ministry, if anyone is found using or selling plastic garlands and other materials during festivals like Tihar and Chhath, a fine of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 will be imposed by the environmental inspector and a fine of up to Rs 100,000 by the Department of Environment.
