Security removed from suspended CJ Rana’s residence

KATHMANDU: The government has removed the security personnel from the official residence of the suspended Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shamsher Rana at Baluwatar.

Rana, who was preparing to return to the Supreme Court on Sunday, was stopped by the police from leaving the residence.

The police kept a record of those who visited Rana’s residence in Baluwatar.

Rana said that the government did not allow him to leave the residence.

The National Human Rights Commission drew the attention of the government to the deployment of police at Rana’s residence.

The government removed some security personnel from Rana’s residence on Sunday itself.

Rana, who has been under suspension after the impeachment was registered at the Parliament Secretariat, has been claiming with the term of the House of Representatives coming to an end, his impeachment proposal has also become inactive.

Although Rana has claimed that his impeachment has become inactive, Law Minister Gobinda Bandi has been saying that Rana should bring a letter that the suspension has been lifted and the impeachment motion has become inactive.

Meanwhile, the government has deployed security personnel at the gate of the Supreme Court (SC) to bar Rana from entering the SC.
