Int’l community wishes for success of Nepal’s unique model of peace process

The international communities in Nepal including the country representatives of the United Nations (UN) have extended their best wishes for the success of Nepal’s unique model of peace process.

Paying a courtesy call on CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at his resident at Khumaltar in Lalitpur today, the international communities wished for the success of the peace process.

Present in the meeting were UN’s Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Richard Howard, ambassadors of Australia, Germany, Switzerland and European Union to Nepal, who assured their positive support and goodwill for the peace process which is in the process of conclusion, according to a press note issued by Chair Dahal’s Secretariat.

Maoist Center finalizes office bearers

CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has finalized office bearers and proposed Dev Gurung as the party’s general secretary.

At the Standing Committee meeting of the party held at the party’s headquarter in Parisdanda on Saturday, Chairman Prachanda nominated Narayan Kaji Shrestha as senior vice chairman, Krishna Bahadur Mahara as vice chairman and Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Barsha Man Pun, Haribol Gajurel, Pampha Bhusal, Janardan Sharma, Shakti Basnet and Matrika Yadav as the party’s deputy general secretaries.

Similarly, Dinanath Sharma, Chakrapani Khanal, Devendra Paudel, Lila Mani Pokharel, Ganesh Shah, Hitman Shakya, Hitaraj Pandey, Dilaram Acharya and Ram Karki have been named as the party’s secretaries.

According to a Standing Committee member, Prachanda proposed Shree Ram Dhakal as the party’s treasurer.

KMC yet to find alternative places to dump waste

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)’s announcement to dispose waste within the city itself by segregating biodegradable and non-biodegradable garbage has yet to be implemented.

So far, the KMC has identified five places for dumping biodegradable waste produced from the Valley.

But, local people from the proposed dumping sites are not positive about the matter, putting the process in the lurch, said Sunil Lamsal, member of the Secretariat of KMC Mayor Balendra Shah.

Deputy Speaker Bhusal bereaved of mother

The CPN Maoist Center has formed a committee under the leadership of leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha to draft manifesto for the November 20 elections.

A Standing Committee meeting of the party held at the party’s headquarters in Parisdanda, Koteshwor, on Saturday decided to this effect.

Students studying in China allowed to return

China has decided to allow students who have been stranded in Nepal for a long time due to COVID-19 outbreak to enter the country.

Issuing a notice on its website, the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu has informed that the Chinese government has allowed students from South Asian countries including Nepal to return to study in China.

According to the Embassy, the foreign students who have business visas in China and valid study residence permits are allowed to enter China.

President Bhandari inquires about Giri’s health

President Bidya Devi Bhandari today took stock of health condition of Nepali Congress leader Pradeep Giri, who is undergoing treatment at Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur. The President reached the hospital at 11:00 am today.

Dr Upendra Mahato, Chairperson of the hospital board of directors, briefed President Bhandari about Giri’s health condition, according to the President’s Secretariat.

She also wished leader Giri a speedy recovery. President Bhandari spent approximately one hour at the hospital.

Nepal sees 299 new coronavirus cases, two deaths in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 299 new cases of coronavirus and two deaths in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.

Of the confirmed cases, 180 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 119 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 4,337 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 1,670 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 2,667 through the Antigen method.
