Nepal-made footwear fair to be held from Sunday

KATHMANDU: The 5th Dashain Shoe Trade Promotion Fair is going to be held from Sunday.

The fifth trade promotion fair organized by Footwear Manufacturers Association of Nepal is going to be held at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu from August 21 to September 5.

It is being organised with the objective of promoting domestically produced footwear and various kinds of leather goods, said Coordinator of the fair, Suraj Banjade.

It is also an effort towards making the country self-sufficient in the field of footwear and leather products.

He said that the fair will also help the quality and design of products through healthy competition between the entrepreneurs.

The president of the association, Naniraj Ghimire, expressed his belief that the fair will help in the revival of the Nepalese footwear industry, badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Around one thousand models of shoes by more than 30 brands will be on sale at the fair with a discount of 10 to 50 percent.
