Melamchi water to be distributed from April 24

KATHMANDU: Preparations are underway to distribute Melamchi water to the Kathmandu Valley residents from April 24.

The project has started preparations for water distribution under the direction of Minister for Water Supply Umakanta Chaudhary.

Minister Chaudhary had instructed the stakeholders including the Melamchi project to carry out preparatory works including water treatment.

He also urged to distribute water proportionally from all 10 water ponds in the Kathmandu Valley.

The water that was poured into the tunnel at the rate of 260 liters per second from the source had reached Sundarijal on Monday night.

Earlier, the water that reached the capital was blocked after the structures in the source area collapsed due to the floods in the Melamchi river on June 15 last year.
