Maoist Center is open to all options for electoral alliance

Prachanda alleges NC leaders for using derogatory language

POKHARA: Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has lamented that some leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) have spoken derogatory language against his party.

He, however, ruled out the possibility of an electoral alliance with UML in the current situation.

Talking to reporters in Pokhara on Sunday morning, he, however, said that his party would open all options for forging an electoral alliance with other political parties.

“Some NC leaders spoke derogatory language. Therefore, I have indicated that there may be an alliance with the UML,” said Prachanda.

He said that the Maoists were preparing for the election on their own.

“We will not depend on the ruling coalition to win the elections,” he added.

Meanwhile, he also claimed that his party has the possibility of becoming the first party after the elections considering the current situation in the country.

“Even in 2064 BS, some major parties had said that the Maoists would get not more than five seats, but the people gave us almost a majority,” Prachanda told reporters in Pokhara on Sunday morning.

Prachanda further said that he was confident that the Maoist Center would garner majority votes as the party would fulfill the issue of empowering the people from institutionalizing democracy, constitution and peace process.
