KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has sought clarification from mayor of Haripurba Municipality and administrator accusing the duo of breaching the election code of conduct.

The EC demanded 48-hour clarification from the duo asking why did they held the special convention of the Municipality at this moment by postponing it in the past.

The Commission reminded them that no new policies and programs could be organized without consent from the Commission. The local levels could though organize programs that were approved in the annual budget and programs of the local levels.

The Commission sought clarification from them after the complaints from the Municipal Council members and some political parties.

The special session of the Municipality slated to be held on September 28 could not be held failing to reach the quorum and it was set for today and the EC directed to postpone it.
