Red Cross Society lends hand in KMC garbage management



KATHMANDU: Volunteers of the Red Cross Society, involved in various activities of humanitarian services, have started joining hands in the management of garbage in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

They have launched a campaign from this morning where they collect the garbage thrown at the main roads and crossroads of the KMC in plastic bags and send it to landfill site, keeping it in KMC’s vehicles.

A total of 50 volunteers associated to Nepal Red Cross Society, Kathmandu branch, are involved in this campaign.

It is said the volunteers would involve in waste management two hours daily in the morning. Newly elected Kathmandu branch president of Nepal Red Cross Society, Shyamkaji Dotel, shared that the campaign would continue for 10 days.

He said, “Garbage of Bagbazaar, Kamaladi and Putalisadak areas was managed in the first day under the campaign. The campaign will help to make clean Kathmandu.”
