BIRATNAGAR: CPN-UML Vice Chairman Ishwor Pokhrel has said that UML is not in favor of forming a national-level electoral alliance.

Speaking at a program in Biratnagar on Tuesday, Pokhrel stated that the CPN-UML is not in favor of forming an alliance at the national level focusing on the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections.

“The objective to face the election is to achieve a majority. Therefore, we are against the idea of forging an alliance at the national level for the election. However, there can be coordination at the local level according to the need,” he said.

Pokhrel also dismissed rumors that Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s visit to India was aimed at isolating the UML.

“Thinking of isolating UML is a mere daydream,” Pokhrel said.

He said no one would have dreamed of isolating UML as we are among the people with the strength of the organization with clear ideas and principles.
