KATHMANDU: Nepal and China have agreed to develop commercial infrastructure at the border entry points.

The two sides agreed to develop infrastructure at border entry points including Korola, Kimathanka and Olangchungola during the 10th meeting of the Nepal-Tibet Trade Facilitation Committee.

Officials of Nepal and China also agreed to complete the dry port under construction at Timure in Rasuwa with the help of China in a virtual meeting on Monday.

Likewise, the two sides also agreed to cooperate and coordinate to adopt appropriate methods to conduct bilateral trade between Nepal and China, to strictly follow the health protocol against Covid at the customs points, and enhance the necessary procedural issues and technical capacity for the export of agricultural, animal and plant products to China.

Last week, the two sides agreed to resume two-way trade from the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border port following the Covid-19 health protocols and guidelines.

For this, both sides will establish pandemic prevention and control mechanisms.

The meeting also decided to open the Hilsa-Purang border point for the transportation of goods and construction materials from China, with the aim of supporting the livelihood of the people of the northern Himalayan region of Nepal, by implementing the necessary Covid-19 health protocols and guidelines.
