Independent candidate Joshi leads in Tanahun’s Byas Municipality



KATHMANDU: Independent candidate Deepak Raj Joshi has taken the lead in Byas Municipality, Tanahun.

Joshi’s election symbol scissor has garnered 1,316 votes so far, leaving behind Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Baikuntha Neupane with 861 votes.

Notably, Tanahun is senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel’s home district.

CPN-UML’s Basundhara Gharti is leading the deputy mayoral race. Gharti has received 1,034 votes against rival NC’ Indira Darai’s 965 votes.

Of the 14 wards in Byas Municipality, counting of votes in wards 1, 2, 3 and 4 is underway.
