Maoist Center wins mayor and deputy mayor in Palungtar



KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) has won both the post of mayor and deputy mayor of Palungtar municipality.

Maoist Center’s mayoral candidate Biwas Chintan (Ajay) won the election with 6,072 votes.

Similarly, Bandana Pandey, a candidate from the Maoist Center, has won the deputy mayor with 5,579 votes.

Mayor candidate of Janata Samajwadi Party Prem Gurung polled 5,717 votes. Deepak Babu Kandel, the previous mayor and Nepali Congress candidate this time got 4,997 votes.

Similarly, Chet Kumari Shrestha of the NC, the candidate for the post of deputy mayor, got 5,077 votes. UML candidate Parvati Devi Pathak came third with 4,281 votes.

In Palungtar, an electoral alliance was formed between the JSP and the CPN-UML.
