South Korean Ambassador calls on Home Minister



KATHMANDU: South Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park Chong Suk paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand Tuesday.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, matters relating to deepening bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, according to the Home Minister’s Secretariat.

During the meeting, Home Minister Khand thanked South Korea for its contribution to the development of the physical infrastructure sector in Nepal.

He thanked the South Korean government, the Korean people and the Korean industry for taking a small number of Nepali students to Korea for higher education and integrating Nepalis into Korean job market through EPS.

Stating that Korean tourists have been coming to Nepal to observe the diverse culture and geography of Nepal and commending Korean progress in the field of physical development and technology, the Home Minister said that Nepal was importing and consuming Korean technology goods, including Korean-made vehicles, machines and mobile phone.

He informed that the government was creating an environment for the smooth implementation of Korean-invested development projects in Nepal.

During the meeting, South Korean Ambassador Chong Suk informed that the EPS is now in the starting phase again and acknowledged that the number of Korean tourists to Nepal has decreased in recent years due to Covid-19.

He shared the embassy has estimated that about 30,000 Korean tourists visit Nepal every year.
