SC stays govt decision of suspending NRB governor
The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a short-term interim order not to implement the government’s decision to suspend Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.
A single bench of Judge Hari Prasad Phuyal issued a short-term interim order restraining the government from immediately implementing the government’s decision to suspend the governor.
The apex court has summoned both parties to the court for discussion.
Attempts to break alliance should be thwarted: Prime Minister Deuba
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that there are attempts to break the coalition and urged all to work to foil it.
Speaking at the founding day program of NC’s student wing Nepal Students Union (NSU) in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Prime Minister Deuba said that the alliance should not be broken under any circumstances.
Local elections will be held on the stipulated date: CEC Thapaliya
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Thapaliya has reaffirmed his commitment to holding the local elections on May 13.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the orientation program for journalists and photojournalists on Tuesday, Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya said, “The election scheduled for May 13 will be held on the scheduled date.”
Five-party alliance for safeguarding democracy: NC Leader Poudel
Senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel, has said that the five-party alliance was formed to safeguard democracy and institutionalize changes.
Speaking at a program organized on the 53rd establishment day of the Nepal Students Union (NSU), the student wing of the NC, here today, leader Poudel opined, “The alliance was formed not for power, it is for promoting a system, instead. The alliance was not forged to make Sher Bahadur Deuba a Prime Minister it was to protect democracy and the changes.”
Minor’s father also goes hostile in Paul Shah related rape case
he father of the minor victim in the rape case related to the rape accusation against actor Paul Shah has also gone hostile in the court on Tuesday.
According to the District Court, Tanahu, the father changed the accusation made against actor Shah and said he also agrees with his daughter’s statement.
