Baitadi-Dhangadi air service resumes

KATHMANDU: The Baitadi-Dhangadi air service has resumed after a hiatus of one and a half month.

The Dhangadhi-Baitadi-Dhangadhi flight remained closed since December 31. The air service had been closed due to bad weather and lack of passengers, according to Summit Air’s Patan Airport liaison person Krishna Bhatta.

The service resumed on Friday. Summit Air has been flying from Baitadi to Dhangadhi on Friday, one day a week.

The Patan Airport in Baitadi was re-opened after 26 years in mid-October 2020. The construction work of the airport in Patan had started in 1975 and the air service was started from 1978.

However, the airport remained closed since 1994, citing lack of passengers after the district was connected to the road network.
