Secretary General of Federal Parliament responds to SC on suspended CJ Rana’s case



KATHMANDU: Secretary General of the Federal Parliament Bharatraj Gautam has sent a written reply to the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court defending his move to invalidate the impeachment motion filed against suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

The full court and constitutional bench of the Supreme Court had asked Gautam to respond justifying the reason for giving the letter to Rana.

Sending a written response to the constitutional bench on Sunday, Gautam claimed that the impeachment motion along with other business of the House of Representatives will be inactive with the term of the House of Representatives coming to an end.

Sources said that Gautam has insisted that other business and proposals of the House of Representatives, too, will not be continued to the next House of Representatives.

He also mentioned in the letter that according to the principle of natural justice, it is his responsibility to inform the accused about the status of the accusation, sources claimed.
