Govt declares Tuesday a holiday to mourn the demise of centenarian Joshi



KATHMANDU: The government has announced a public holiday on Tuesday to mourn the demise of centenarian Satya Mohan Joshi.

The Home Ministry on Monday issued a press statement on Monday announcing a Tuesday a public holiday.

During this period, the government offices, public institutions and other diplomatic offices will remain closed.

Centenarian cultural expert Joshi passed away on Sunday.

He breathed his last at the age of 103 at KIST Medical College in Gwarko, Lalitpur at 7:09 am Sunday morning.

Joshi was suffering from prostate and heart problems for a long time and recently he was also suffering from dengue infection.

He was diagnosed with chest pneumonia and heart rhythm problems along with dengue infection on October 9 .

A joint team of Prof. Dr. Milesh Jang Sijapati was working on his treatment.

The 103-year-old culture expert was admitted to the hospital on September 23 after he suffered from health problems.

He later tested dengue positive.
