Patan High Court orders not to proceed with demolishing structures built by encroaching Tukucha River

KATHMANDU: Patan High Court has issued an interim order in the name of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) for not demolishing structures built by encroaching the Tukucha River.

An interim order has been issued to this effect in the course of hearing a petition filed by President Travels and Tours Private Limited’s Bhola Thapa and others.

A bench of Judge Dipendra Bahadur Bam issued an interim order not to immediately demolish structures built by encroaching the Tukucha River.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City is running a campaign to demolish structures built by encroaching the Tukucha River.

Till date, the metropolis has already bulldozed structures of Jai Nepal Cinema Hall and Laxmi Bank to excavate  the Tukucha River.

The High Court has called both sides (petitioner and defendants) for discussion on September 21.

Thagindra Kattel, registrar of Patan High Court, said as the structures had the certificate of completion and seemed to be built by fulfilling necessary procedures, the High Court Patan ordered not to demolish the structures and called both sides for discussion.
