NEPSE shows positive sign Wednesday, increases by 8.9 points

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a slight improvement on Wednesday.

The stock market, which had a high decline of 3.61 percent yesterday, closed with a modest increase of 0.39 percent today. On Wednesday, the market index NEPSE increased by 8.90 points and closed at 2274.42 points.

The general rise in NEPSE has led to a decline in trade, non-life insurance, manufacturing, life insurance and mutual fund sub-indices. All other sub-indicators have increased.

Despite the increase in the Nepal’s share market, the transaction amount has been limited to Rs 1.32 billion.

Arun Valley Hydropower had the highest turnover of Rs 53.8 million while Jalpa Community Microfinance had the highest turnover of Rs 49.5 million and Himalayan Distillery had the highest turnover of Rs 44 million.

Out of  191 companies shares of 127 companies traded higher during the day. The share prices of 52 companies declined when the share prices of remaining 12 companies remained stable.

Among the traded stocks, Radhi Power Company’s share price rose the most at 6.02 percent, while Synergy Power’s share price rose 5.91 percent and Varun Power’s 5.77 percent.

Shares of Prudential Insurance and Surya Life Insurance fell 4.39 percent and 4.28 percent, respectively.
