Ruling coalition fails to finalize distribution of metropolises and sub metropolises

A meeting of the ruling coalition has failed to reach an agreement to finalize the distribution of  metropolis and sub-metropolises on Monday.

The meeting of the ruling coalition met twice throughout the day but failed to reach an agreement, said Nepali Congress leader and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

He added that the meeting would resume on Tuesday as well.

Maoists have never said we should get Bharatpur, and Renu as its mayor: Prachanda

Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has dismissed reports that he and his party were insisting on fielding Renu Dahal as Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s mayor. Prachanda has been criticized for putting the entire alliance at stake for the sake of his daughter, Renu.

“We have never said we want Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Renu Dahal,” Prachanda told a news conference in Parisdanda on Monday.

NC cadres against electoral alliance in local election: Leader Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that NC cadres are not in favor of electoral coordination in the local level elections.

Speaking at a training program organized by NC Constituency No. 4 ‘A’ Regional Working Committee in Kathmandu on Monday, Thapa said that he raised his voice on the issue from the beginning and that party cadres were also not in favor of forging alliance in local level election.

Three arrested for trading cryptocurrency

Three people have been arrested on charges of trading illegal digital cryptocurrency.

The arrested have identified as Anup Mishra, 22, of Birtamod, Jhapa, residing in Kathmandu, Dipesh Thapa of Kavre residing in Chhetrapati and Rahul Chachan of Bafal, Kathmandu.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Kathmandu police arrested them from Mahaboddha, New Road and Kalanki.

Committee of Inquiry begins investigation on suspended governor Adhikari

The Committee of Inquiry formed by the governor has started its investigation on the allegations made against Nepal Rastra Bank’s suspended Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.

The probe committee formed on April 8, the very date the Governor was suspended, started its work from April 17.

Price of vegetables skyrockets

Inflation of vegetables has increased in the Kanchanpur district due to the lack of availability of vegetables in markets following the decline in local production in the recent period.

Production of vegetables has declined due to sudden weather changes. Former Chairperson of Kanchanpur Vegetable Entrepreneurs’ Association, Tarka Raj Bhatta, said that though the local productions—pumpkin, brinjal, bottle gourd are in the market, other vegetables are being imported from the Indian market.

Septuagenarian woman raped in Palpa

A septuagenarian woman has been raped in Palpa district.

Acting on a complaint, a squad of police deployed from Police Post Harthok arrested a 27-year-old Sanjaya Sunar near Bhairabsthan Temple on Sunday night.
