Department of Passports halts services

KATHMANDU: The distribution of passports has been postponed in view of the increasing risk of coronavirus infection.

The Department of Passports said that regular services related to passport were halted for the time being. However, the department will process urgent applications such as going abroad for medical reasons.

Likewise, the department invalidated previously issued tokens and bookings. The department has planned to resume services after the situation returns to normal.

For urgent cases such as the need to go abroad for treatment, service seekers can make requests for passports via email ([email protected]) along with the online form, sufficient proof and reasoning. The department will inform limited-service seekers about the status of applications through email within two days.

Meanwhile, the department would continue printing passports for applications forwarded through live enrollment at the district administration offices and dispatch them to the districts.
