NC leads new govt, Prachanda’s claim for premiership is also natural: NC Spokesperson Mahat

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has claimed that NC will lead the new government as the largest party in the coalition.

Speaking to media in Baluwatar on Saturday, Spokesperson Mahat said that NC would obviously claim the formation of government.

“NC is the largest party in Parliament. Even in the coalition, we have the status of the largest party by a wide margin. Therefore, NC will lead the new government,” he said, adding, “It is natural for CPN-Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to claim for the post as well, yet we are hopeful he will support NC’s premiership.”

On Saturday, the Chairman of the Maoist Center, Prachanda, met Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Baluwatar and submitted his claim to the leadership of the government.

Spokesperson Mahat informed that the NC parliamentary party elections will be held in a few days.

He said that as the government will be formed with the support of other parties, efforts will be made to elect a unanimous leader to convey the message of unity.
