Govt declares public holiday tomorrow to mourn the demise of centenarian Joshi

The government has announced a public holiday on Tuesday to mourn the demise of centenarian Satya Mohan Joshi.

The Home Ministry on Monday issued a press statement announcing that the government has decided to give a public holiday on Tuesday.

During this period, the government offices, public institutions and other diplomatic offices will remain closed.

Joshi breathed his last on Thursday at the age of 103.

EC to scrap PR candidacy of those candidates who vied in local polls but did not submit expense details

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to cancel the candidature of those who were candidates in the local level elections and have not submitted their expenses details, if they are found to be on the proportional representative (PR) list for the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies elections.

The EC said that the candidates who have not submitted their expenses details after running in the local level elections cannot be a proportional candidates for the House of Representatives and provincial assembly elections.

Similarly, EC has asked the people who were candidates during local level election but haven’t submitted expenses details and are candidates in the proportional quota to pay the fine by October 22.

Five party alliance has addressed people’s voice: NC

The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has claimed that the five-party coalition government has addressed the voice of every Nepali.

Speaking at a press conference at the party office in Sanepa on Monday, NC Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat claimed that the alliance has brought the country to the right track.

He said, “Everyone knows under what circumstances the coalition government was formed. The coalition government that was formed in last year has brought the country to order in a short period of time. Issues such as coronavirus control, balance in foreign policy and other public related matters have been prioritized.”

Referring to CPN UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, he said that the alliance was formed after the attack on the constitutio. He added the coalition was trying to address the voice of every citizen.

Main duty of Nepal Police is to hold polls in peaceful manner: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that Nepal Police has the main responsibility to conduct the election in a peaceful manner.

PM Deuba said so while addressing a ceremony organized to mark the 67th Nepal Police Day at the police headquarters in Naxal, Kathmandu, on Monday.

He instructed that all the organizational units of the police should be made technology friendly for achieving expected results by adopting and adapting to the changes in information technology.

Nepal sees 46 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 46 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Monday.

Of the confirmed cases, 40 were detected through the RT-PCR method and six through Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 2,287 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

As many as 1,183 samples were tested through RT-PCR method and 1,104 through Antigen method.

67th Police Day marked

Programs were organized across the country to mark the 67th Police Day.

The 67th Police Day has been marked in Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati Province in Makawanpur district, today. The Bagmati Province Police Office organized the function.

Jazeera Airways halts daily flight at Gautam Buddha International Airport

Jazeera Airways has stopped the only daily flight from the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA).

Due to the lack of passengers, the airline has stopped the daily flights and now the flights will be operated three times a week.

After Jazeera Airways canceled the flights scheduled for October 12 to October 14, passengers, including the ones going for foreign employment, were also affected.

NOC not to adjust petrol price, gets profit of Rs14.56 per liter on petrol

Nepal Oil Corporation has again deferred adjusting the price of petroleum products.

Even though the new prices are coming from India regularly, the corporation has not adjusted the prices by showing the old losses.

As a result, the consumer has been hit by high prices. Despite the increase in the price of some fuel from India on Sunday, the corporation still has a profit of Rs 390 million in 15 days.

However, the corporation has clarified that due to accumulated losses; there will be no immediate price adjustment.
