DAMAULI: Tribhuvan Army Club has maintained its undefeated journey in the women’s basketball tournament held in Vyas-1, Tanahu as part of the Ninth National Games.
The departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club maintained its undefeated journey in the tournament which started from October 14th.
Tribhuvan Army Club has won all four matches, playing full court and three by three matches. Towards the full court, Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Madhes Pradesh 71-13 in the opening match. Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Sudurpaschim Pradesh 68-30 in full court.
Similarly, Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Lumbini Pradesh 14-7 in three by three. Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Bagmati Pradesh by 12-4 points in three by three.
Six matches held on third day
On the third day of the tournament, six matches were completed on Sunday. Bagmati, Armed Police, Tribhuvan Army Club, Gandaki, Sudurpaschim and Lumbini have won the match.
Bagmati defeated Gandaki by 67-43 points in the full court match. Bagmati scored 25-5 in the first quarter, 13-8 in the second quarter, 20-14 in the third quarter and 9-16 in the fourth quarter. Bagmati’s Anusha Malla scored 14 individual points and Gandaki’s Seema Garbuja scored 16 points.
In the full court match between Sudurpaschim and Madhes, Sudurpaschim defeated Madhes by 45-21 points. Sudurpaschim scored 12-3 in the first quarter, 11-7 in the second quarter, 6-6 in the third quarter and 16-5 in the fourth quarter. Pravina Gurung of Sudurpaschim scored 18 individual points and Bipana Giri of Madhes scored nine points in that match.
Gandaki got the first victory by defeating Sudurpaschim in three by three. Gandaki defeated Sudurpaschim 17-7. In Gandaki’s win, Smriti Gurung scored seven points as an individual. For Sudurpaschim, Kabita Rai scored five points.
The Armed Police Force defeated Province No. 1 by 21-5 points in a three-by-three match. Akriti Shrestha of Armed Police Force contributed 10 individual points and Yakkan Rai of Province No. 1 contributed three points in that match. Tribhuvan Army Club won 12-4 in the three-by-three match between Tribhuvan Army Club and Bagmati. Jenisha Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club scored an individual and Arya Chhetri of Bagmati added two points in that match.
Lumbini defeated Madhes 14-1 in the three-by-three match between Madhes and Lumbini. Khushi Khan of Lumbini scored six points in that match.
Five matches today
Five matches will be conducted today on the fourth day of the tournament.
Fanindra Man Shrestha, Central Secretary of Nepal Basketball Association, informed that one full court game and four three by three games will be held today.
On the full court, there will be a match between Gandaki and Province No. 1. Three by three matches will be played between Armed Police Force and Sudurpaschim, Madhes and Tribhuvan Army Club, Bagmati and Lumbini, and Gandaki and Province No. 1.
The semi-final match of the tournament will be conducted on Tuesday.
Shreshtha said that separate groups have been divided for full court (five players) and three by three (three players) for the competition.
As for five players, Group A consists of Nepal Army, Sudurpaschim and Madhes, while Group B consists of Bagmati, Gandaki and Province No. 1.
Group A consists of Madhes, Bagmati, Lumbini and Nepal Army while Group B consists of Province No. 1, Armed Police, Gandaki and Sudurpaschim.
