CoAS Sharma to attend annual Chief of Defense Conference in Sydney



KATHMANDU: Nepali Army Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhuram Sharma is set to visit Australia.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki informed that the cabinet had approved Sharma’s visit from July 25 to 27.

CoAS Sharma is going to attend the annual Chief of Defense Conference in Sydney, Australia.

The Chiefs of Defense Conference is an annual conference of the chiefs of defense of the nations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. These conferences bring together senior military leaders from regional nations to meet and discuss mutual security challenges, improve mutual relationships and foster security cooperation. The conference will be attended by Army chiefs of 27 countries.

Sharma recently concluded an observation visit (June 18-24) to the UN peacekeeping missions in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and Syria (UNDOF) where the Nepali Army peacekeeping troops have been stationed, and a goodwill visit to the United States.

He returned home on July 3.
