NC President Deuba under fire for bypassing Koirala camp

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister (PM) Sher Bahadur Deuba is under fire for failing to deliver to the people and bypassing the party’s disgruntled camp led by Dr. Shekhar Koirala.

Central members expressed their displeasure about the working style of Deuba and for isolating the discontented faction in running the party.

NC Vice President Dhanraj Gurung came down heavily on Deuba for “bypassing” the Koirala camp.

“The party can’t function in such a condition,” Gurung said while criticizing NC President Deuba.

Likewise, party General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, too, criticized Deuba for failing to fulfill the responsibility of the Prime Minister.

Thapa accused Deuba of following the path of the then KP Oli government.

“If this continues, Nepali Congress will not have any agenda to ask for votes in the upcoming federal parliament elections,” Thapa said.

He criticized the Deuba-led government for repeating the same mistakes committed by the then Oli-led government.

Thapa also referred to the introduction of the Constitutional Council Bill, which allows appointments to constitutional bodies on the basis of majority.

“We demand the government to withdraw the Bill immediately,” Thapa said.

Another General Secretary Sharma also concurred with Thapa in demanding the withdrawal of the Constitutional Council Bill.
