KATHMANDU: The Nepal-America International Film Festival 2022 is set to be held both physically and virtually in Maryland, the USA, from June 23 to 26.

Organizer ‘Nepal America Film Society’ said the four-day festival will showcase 38 films from around 12 countries, including Nepal and the US.

The festival will also premiere Bikram Sapkota-directed Nepali movie ‘Halkara’ and showcase Michael Brown-directed documentary ‘Brick Mule’ and Eric Spink’s short film ‘The Lip Readers’ at Greenbelt Theater.

Apart from the physical screening of the movies, during the festival, audiences could view the movie screening from their smartphones, i-pads, computers, laptops and smart televisions through Eventive TV app.

Screenings will follow an interaction between audience and filmmakers-directors along with actors to discuss the various aspects of the festival and the films.

Abinash Bikram Shah and Surakshya Panta, who attended the Cannes Film Festival this year, will also interact with audiences virtually. Similarly, the best movies are to be awarded.

The awards will be announced by the seven judges that include Anup Subedi from Nepal and Rebecca Bustamante from America, Nina Streich, Bhavani Rao, Deborah Jones, Farid Bozorgmehr and Portia Cobe.

This festival has been organized every year by the non–profit organization Nepal America Film Society since 2017.
