Krishu nominated International Vice-Chair of Nepali Writers’ Association

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Nepali Writers’ Association has nominated writer and poet Krishu Chhetri its International Vice-president.

The Association held its Seventh Convention on April 1 and 2 in Pokhara under chairmanship of Shrawan Mukarung.

The convention has also elected the Association’s new central committee under the chairmanship of senior poet Tirtha Shrestha.

The same meeting has elected Sashi Thapa Pandit as the Secretary and Bimala Tumkhewa, Manoj Neupane, Gita Regmi, Hem Pravash and Indra Kumar Bikalpa as members.

Poet Chhetri, from Jhapa, is also a lyricist and literary book and journal editor. He propounded what is called ‘Bilayan’, an innovative genre of Nepali literature.

Chhetri has already many creations to his name and won various literary awards and honour.

He is the winner of the Yuwa Barsha Moti Puraskar (2066 BS), Rastriya Pratibha (National Talent) Puraskar (2058 BS), Gazalshree Samman (2060 BS), National Poetry Festival 2057 BS (gold medal), Rastriya Yuwa (National Youth) Talent Award (2072 BS) and Devkota Shatabdi gold medal, among others.

The Association was established in 2007 BS at the initiation of BP Koirala, Riddhi Bahadur Malla, and Govinda Bahadur Malla Gothale among the noted writers. It is an association of democrat writers.
