KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba held talks with CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli at the latter’s residence in Balkot.
According to sources close to Oli, Prime Minister discussed the United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) with UML Chairman Oli.
PM Deuba has been learnt to have urged UML Chairman Oli to support the government in ratifying the MCC from the Parliament on Friday.
Earlier, a meeting of the top leaders of the four parties in the ruling coalition in Baluwatar had failed to reach an agreement on tabling MCC in parliament.
PM Deuba left for Balkot as soon as the meeting of the coalition ended inconclusively.
Earlier in the afternoon, Nepali Congress leader Minendra Rijal also had met UML Chair Oli by reaching his residence in Balkot.
Sources said that ruling partners CPN-Maoist Center and CPN-Unified Socialist put forward a condition of removing the obstruction of parliament by the main opposition to move MCC forward. They urged PM Deuba to hold discussion with Oli before taking MCC forward in parliament.
