Baburam and Bamdev to contest Nov 20 election with Maoist Center’s election symbol



KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and National Assembly (NA) member Bamdev Gautam have decided to contest the November 20 election with Maoist Center’s election symbol.

Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the Maoist Center has given consent to Dr. Bhattarai and Gautam to contest the upcoming election to the House of Representatives with the party’s election symbol – hammer and sickle.

Mahara said that discussions were underway to include the two leaders in the ruling coalition as well.

Bamdev, who lost the 2074 BS election from Bardiya-1, was appointed as a member of the National Assembly by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bhattarai won the member of the House of Representatives from Gorkha-2 in 2074 BS by forming an alliance with Nepali Congress.
