Maoist Center Chair Prachanda meets Indian EAM Jaishankar in Delhi



KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM) S.  Jaishankar have held a meeting in Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

Informing about the meeting held with former Prime Minister and Maoist Center Chair Prachanda, Indian EAM Jaishankar  said that  the meeting was fruitful on strengthening neighborly relations focusing on economic cooperation.

“India will always be a reliable partner in Nepal’s development and prosperity, reflecting the Neighbor First Policy.” Jaishankar tweeted.

He added that he was happy to welcome Prachanda in India.

Prachanda reached New Delhi yesterday on the invitation of Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda.

The Maoist chair is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Indian Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Jagat Prakash Nadda, among others. BJP President Nadda had invited the Maoist Chair to visit India three months ago.

Earlier today, Prachanda also met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s wife Arzu Rana Deuba.

According to Prachanda’s secretariat, Prachanda is scheduled to meet with BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
