Ongoing vote count will conclude by May 19: CEC Thapaliya



KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya today said the ongoing vote count for the May 13 local election would be concluded within May 19.

Talking to media-persons at Biratnagar airport, he said 50 percent results would come out by May 17 and full results are expected by May 19.

The Commission would manage required workforce, security personnel, finance and other necessary resources for vote count, he said stressing the need for mobilizing a large number of employees from civil servants, the province government and local bodies to intensify vote count.

It would facilitate to resolve small shortcomings surfaced at vote counting places, he ensured.

“Security arrangements have been strengthened at vote counting places. So, there should not be any delay in vote counting.”

The government has been urged to hold and take action as per the law against those involved in incidents violating the election code of conduct in the poll, he said.
