IPL: Hyderabad clinches 7-wicket win against Kolkata



NEW DELHI: Sun Risers Hyderabad clinched a seven-wicket win against Kolkata Night Riders in a cricket match played at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai under the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Kolkata had notched up 175 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Kolkata’s Nitish Rana made highest 54 runs followed by Andre Russell with 49 runs while captain Shreyas Lyer notches up 28 runs. The other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.

In reply, Hyderabad’s T Natarajan took highest three wickets of Kolkata while Umran Malik took two wickets.

Chasing the 176-run target set by Kolkata, Hyderabad reached the target in 17.5 overs losing three wickets. Rahul Tripathi made highest 71 runs followed by Aiden Markram 68 runs.

On the bawling side, Kolkata’s Aandre Russell took two wickets and Pat Cummins grabbed one wicket.

With this win, Hyderabad has climbed the seventh position with six points from five games. Kolkata is in the fourth position with equal six points.
