President bats for cooperation between govts, civil society organizations to end VAW



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed the need for cooperation among the governments of all countries and civil society activities to raise collective voices against violence against women (VAW) stating that VAW is a social issue in the world.

At a meeting with the national and international delegations attending the South Asian Women Conference held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, President Bhandari praised the organization of this regional event after the outbreak of COVID-19 and exchange of ideas on this issue.

According to Communications expert Tika Dhakal, President Bhandari wished that may the objectives and motto of the conference be fulfilled.

Informing about the program and activities of the campaign, Bandana Shiva, pioneer of the women’s movement in India, spoke about how we could end violence against women by forging a common voice in South Asia.
