Govt enforces shutdown on entertainment sector till Jan 29

KATHMANDU: The government has enforced a shutdown on the entertainment sector until January 29 in view of the surging coronavirus cases in the country.

Announcing the decision of the cabinet meeting, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that it has been decided to close movie halls, all kinds of night businesses and gym halls until January 29.

Likewise, shopping malls, department stores and party palaces will be allowed to operate conditionally.

According to a new order issued by the government, only 25 people will be allowed to enter shopping malls and department stores at a time. Facemask is mandatory.

In addition, party palaces will be able to conduct religious and cultural activities such as marriage and others after obtaining the approval of Chief District Officer, given the capacity has to be reduced to one-third of the total capacity and with a maximum of 50 people attending.
