PM Deuba extends condolences at demise of leader Chitrakar



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed condolences to party’s leader late Kamal Chitrakar.

Former general-secretary of Nepal Tarun Dal and Kathmandu Nagar Panchayat’s former Pradhanpancha Chitrakar passed away on December 12 while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital. He was suffering from cardiovascular related ailment for a long time.

The mortal remain of Chitrakar was kept at Pashupati Aryaghat at Gaushala today for tributes.

PM Deuba, offering his tributes to late Chitrakar, said that the contribution of late Chitrakar for the establishment of democracy would be always remembered.

Similarly, NC leaders Prakash Man Singh, Arjun Narshing KC, Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah among others also extended their tribute to late Chitrakar.

Late Chitrakar is survived by spouse, two sons and two daughters. Active in politics since school life, he was imprisoned for four years during his political life.

Chitrakar was credited to build sub-way linking Ratna Park to Bhotahiti while he took the office as Pradhanpancha. The local resident of Kathmandu, Chitrakar also built an over-head bridge once he was elected Pradhanpanch.
