Joint in-charge of Maoist Center Chitwan Pariyar joins UML



CHITWAN: CPN-Maoist Center’s joint in-charge of Chitwan district Yam Bahadur Pariyar has defected to the CPN-UML.

UML Chair KP Sharma Oli welcomed Pariyar into the party at the UML Central Party Office in Lalitpur on Thursday.

A permanent resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-13, Pariyar served as the chair of Chitwan district during the rule of Nepal Communist Party that was formed through merger of the UML and the Maoist Center.

Pariyar contested the Constituent Assembly election from Chitwan-1 in 2006 and faced defeated from UML leader Lalmani Chaudhary.

Pariyar is nominated by the Maoist Center for Provincial Assembly member from Chitwan Constituency No. 3 (b).

He said he defected to the UML as the Maoist Center was weak in terms of political ideology and organization.

Many other Maoist leaders also joined the UML along with Pariyar on the occasion.
