KATHMANDU: Three members of a single family were killed in a landslide this (Thursday) morning at Bethanchwok rural municipality-4 in Kavrepalanchwok.

The deceased have been identified as Neer Bahadur Tamang, his younger sister Sabitri Tamang and mother Thulimaya Tamang, 65.

According to the police, the siblings were killed on the spot while mother breathed her last at Banepa-based Sheer Memorial Hospital.

Following the accident, a joint team of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and the Nepal Police was mobilized for the rescue efforts. It is said the landslide from a quarry buried the house early morning, killing the three.

It may be noted that the local government in coordination with the District Coordination Committee carried out a monitoring of quarries and crusher industries operational within the locality around a week ago, and directed to ensure that the business meets the standards.

The industries in the locality are said to be violating the standards.
