Bagmati Pradesh reports alarming rise in dengue cases



KATHMANDU: With 1,230 new cases of dengue reported on Wednesday, the total number of cases has reached 11,065 as of last evening throughout the country.

Cases of dengue have risen alarmingly across the country, especially in Bagmati Pradesh this year with data showing as many as 8,390 people infected in the province as of Wednesday evening.

According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), the cases of dengue infection have alarmingly spread in 75 districts of the country.

The highest number of infections has been seen in Bagmati province, it said.

As of Wednesday evening, dengue has been confirmed in 8,390 people in Bagmati Province.

Similarly, 1,421 dengue cases have been confirmed in Lumbini, 347 in Province 1, and 323 in Sudurpaschim Pradesh.

Dengue cases have been confirmed in 224 people in Gandaki, 198 in Madhesh Pradesh, and 162 in Karnali.

According to the Department, nine people have died from dengue infection since July.
