SC seeks details on actor KC’s appointment as FDB chair

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has sought the documents and details on actor Bhuwan KC’s appointment as the chairman of the Film Development Board (FDB).

A single bench of Justice Prakashman Singh Raut demanded a written response regarding the appointment from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Film Development Board and KC himself.

A writ was filed against KC’s appointment by five aspirants for the post, including Naresh Paudel, last Friday, stating that KC’s educational qualification was not sufficient for the appointment.

They also demanded an interim order to bar KC from working as chairman until the case is settled.

However, lawyer Surya Bahadur Pandey, who argued on behalf of the writ petitioners, said that the court had summoned both sides before the bench on Thursday prior to deciding on the issuance of the interim order.
