Postponed election in Saptari taking place today



SAPTARI: Re-voting in two polling booths at Janata Secondary School polling station, Hariraha of Dakeshwori Municipality-2 in Saptari district is taking place today.

A meeting held at the voting center in presence of the election officer of Dakneshwori municipality, Sambhunath Magar, Joint-Secretary of Law Ministry, Phanindra Gautam, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Saptari, Madhav Prasad Kafle and APF Deputy Superintendent of Police on Friday decided to hold the postponed voting from 7:00 am Sunday.

The voting was postponed after locals manhandled the polling officer Bipin Yadav over a dispute that arose in course of the voting and also smashed ballot boxes.

DSP Kafle said that locals smashed the ballot box and scattered the ballot papers after police personnel tried to save the polling officer.

Polling officer Yadav is receiving treatment at Rajbiraj-based Chhinnamasta Hospital.
