Government positive to Janamat Party’s demands: Minister Khand



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said the government is positive to address the issues put forth by the CK Raut-Janamat Party.

During his meeting with the Janamat Party leaders at his office Friday, the Home Minister assured of initiations to withdraw party-related cases deemed possible to take back as per the law as agreed with the previous government.

On the occasion, Home Minister Khand  said the decision of the party to come to the mainstream of the politics and to get registered at the Election Commission for the purpose of participating in the upcoming elections was welcoming.

As he recalled that the government had earlier urged the EC to allocate election symbols to all parties applying for the same and the EC had decided accordingly.

The party leaders apprised  Home Minister Khand’s that the party was registered at the EC in view of the upcoming local level elections and demanded the government implement the agreements reached between the party and the erstwhile government.

The party also requested the government to release party cadres and leaders arrested in course of its ‘agriculture movement’ and to address the demands of the movement.

Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, Attorney General Khamma Bahadur Khati, joint secretary Phanidramani Pokharel, party chair Raut, vice chairs Basanta Kushawah, Deepak Sah, Narendra Sah and general secretary Chandan Singh were present in the meeting.
