NC leader Singh advocates opportunity for capable in local poll



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Prakashman Singh has said the party should select its candidates for the upcoming local-level elections in a rationale and unanimous manner.

Speaking at a program organized to congratulate the newly elected leadership of the Federation of Contractors Associations’ of Nepal ( FCAN) here today, party’s former Vice President was of the view that those who were confidantes of and close to the party leadership were picked up as candidates for local polls in the past, sidelining competent ones.

As he explained, party’s statute should be strongly followed while choosing the electoral candidates.

It may be noted that the local poll has been announced for upcoming May 13.

“The party has launched the ‘Lets’ visit home, make the Congress victorious’ campaign in view of the upcoming local poll,” he said, adding that the party could secure a comfortable win provided that an opportunity for capable candidacy is ensured.

On the occasion, FCAN newly elected president Ravi Singh pledged to dedicate his tenure as the FCAN leader for the rights of contractors and for the elimination of malpractices in the construction industry.

“The post-COVID-19 situation required contractors to work hard to bring the construction business back to the track.”
