Six arrested from Bouddha with uranium-like substance

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested six people with uranium-like substances from Bouddha, Kathmandu.

A team of police deployed from Metropolitan Police Circle Boudha arrested the accused from the Hyatt Regency Hotel premises in Boudha Monday night.

According to police, a uranium-like substance wrapped in a black leather-like cover was found in a Hyundai Getz car (Ba 5 Cha 8209) parked at the parking lot of Hyatt Hotel.

“We have recovered some suspicious substance which looks like uranium, it will be sent to laboratory to find out whether it is uranium or not,” the police said.

The accused have been identified as Gopilal Das of Siraha iving in Thamel, Ram Krishna Lamichhane of Helambu, Sindhupalchowk living in Bouddha, Bhupendra Khadka of Kapan, Nawaraj Mahat of Lalitpur, Narayan Yadav of Siraha living in Thamel and Surendra Prasad Chaudhary, a resident of Mahottari now living in Shivchowk, Gokarneshwar.

The police informed further investigation is underway.
