NC parliamentary meeting decides to pass MCC

Preparations underway to table MCC Compact on Wednesday



KATHMANDU: The parliamentary party (PP) meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to pass US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact from the parliament.

The PP meeting held at the NC parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Tuesday concluded that the US grant MCC project should be passed at the earliest.

“Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba reinforced the need to pass the MCC compact and most of the leaders agreed that it should be passed at the earliest,” NC leader Dr. Shashank Koirala said after the PP meeting.

Leaders including Minister for law Dilendra Prasad Badu and Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat had also said light on the need to pass the MCC compact at the earliest.

Law Minister Badu informed that preparations are being made to present the MCC compact at Wednesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
