Lipulekh road expansion: Maoist Center urges India to abide by Panchasheel



KATHMANDU: One of the key members of the ruling alliance CPN-Maoist Center has urged India to abide by the principles of Panchasheel in in the issues relating to neighboring countries.

Issuing a press statement on behalf of the party, Maoist Center leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to adhere to the Panchasheel principle while dealing with neighboring country.

Leader Shrestha is the head of International Department of the Maoist Center.

“Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remark about India’s road expansion in Lipulekh-Kalapani area has drawn the attention of Maoist Center. We urge Indian Prime Minister to adhere to the principles of Panchasheel and respect the sovereignty of Nepal,” the statement read.

Maoist Center has also drawn the attention of the Government of Nepal to oppose the encroachment and take diplomatic initiative to stop such activities at the earliest.
