Violation of election code of conduct is subject to action: EC



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said the violation of election code of conduct issued for candidates of House of Representatives (HoR) and Provincial Assembly warrants punishment.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya directed the monitoring committees at the central and district offices and monitoring officers not to hesitate to take actions against those found in violation of election code of conduct.

Thapaliya asked the officials to take this issue seriously and take action by seeking clarification promptly.

Committee coordinator and Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari pledged to strictly implement the election code of conduct adding that the issue of violation of election code of conduct was intolerable.

It is stated that the government officials, university teachers, schoolteachers and other officials should abide by the election code of conduct and the chiefs of concerned offices are directed to immediately take departmental actions if the officials were engaged in violation of election code of conduct.
