Women’s SAFF Championship: Nepal to face India in semi-final

KATHMANDU: Host Nepal will meet India in the semi-final of the 6th edition of the Women’s SAFF Championship football tournament underway in the capital.

Nepal topped Group B to qualify for the semi-final and will meet India, who ended runners-up in Group A.

The match will be held on September 16. Likewise, the second semi-final will be held between Group B runner-up Bhutan and Group A winner Bangladesh.

The second semi-final will also be held on September 16. Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Pakistan have been eliminated from the tournament.

Earlier today, Bangladesh defeated India in the last match of the group stage to end up as winners of the group.

It defeated India by 3-0 in the final match of Group A held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.

In the victory of Bangladesh, Mosmat Siraj Jahan scored two goals and Krishnarani Sarkar scored one goal.

Prior to this game, India and Bangladesh had already entered the semi-finals from Group A.
