PM Deuba dismisses four JSP Ministers



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has dismissed four Ministers representing Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) from the cabinet.

The Office of the President has relieved Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajendra Shrestha, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Mohammad Istiyak Rai, Minister for Forest and Environment Pradeep Yadav and Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Mrigendra Kumar Singh of their duties on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

Deuba took the decision after JSP left the ruling coalition and formed an electoral alliance with the main opposition CPN-UML.

The Prime Minister, however, cannot appoint new ministers since the poll code has come into force.

The EC states that new appointments in the Cabinet would violate the election code of conduct.
