41 Dalit families displaced due to risk of landslide

ARGHAKHACHI: Forty-one Dalit families have been displaced due to the risk of landslide at Bhujunge of Sandhikharka municipality-7 in Arghakhachi district.

Ward Chairperson Chura Bahadur KC said 161 members of 41 families have been displaced due to the risk of landslide and they have been taking shelter at a building of a local Chandra Prabha Secondary School.

The landslide has damaged some houses of the village and some of them are at high risk.

Assistant Chief District Officer, Meghnath Padhyaya, shared there is a situation to shift the entire settlement to safer place.

Arghakhachi Chamber of commerce and Industry and Nepal Red Cross Society have distributed relief to the landslide affected people.

President of Arghakhachi branch of Nepal Red Cross Society, Kushal Bhusal, said 20 pieces of blankets and 20 pieces of mats have also been provided to Dalit families of Bhujunge, who have lost their houses due to landslide.

Meanwhile, a person died and one another has gone missing after being swept away by a stream in the district, said Chief District Officer, Shashidhar Ghimire.

A total of 111 families have been displaced due to landslide in the district so far.
